XS fairing

The fairings each use the same unique sliding windscreen that enables full adjustability over 7”.

For ’off road’, the screen is dropped to the ‘full down’ position and is completely clear of the riders field of vision. For faster ‘on road’ use, the screen can be adjusted to the riders ideal point of comfort for the conditions.

Adjustment of the screen is straightforward using the two finger clamps at the base of the screen.


Further airflow benefits are gained by the design of the sliding screen. The screen is ‘set ‘ approximately 1” away from the main fairing which encourages accelerated air to pass behind the screen, almost eliminating the effect of buffeting around the riders helmet and enhancing the overall stability of the motorcycle at elevated speeds.

OPTIONS

Two new Dash options are now available in a Carbon finish.

Option 1 is an additional dash that fits above your exisiting OEM clocks and creates enough room for your GPS and a few switches etc.

Option 2 is a full size dash that is designed for those wishing to replace their OEM clocks with a digital instrument and leave themselves room for the coolest dash display out there!

The ‘XS’ Fairing was originally developed for a ‘Concept KLR 650’ that undertook to create the KLR that the owners would really like. The machine undertook changes in just about every area of the bike including, new forks, suspension, wheels and a new look fairing that was designed to address shortcomings like wind protection and lack of instrument space in addition to a more contemporary look. Aimed directly at the ‘Adventure rider‘, the development of the production models in our range has been based with function and practicality at the very heart of the design. We believe that a fairing should be designed to maximise every possible opportunity to improve the usability of the motorcycle. Our fairings each incorporate at least two of the following key functions that should be found on a dual-sport motorcycle.

Variable wind screen - Instrument accommodation - Lighting - Stability

 

The first XS fairing has been in production since early 2007 after having been tested extensively for 4 months, both on and off road. Units have been sold all over the world with reports indicating excellent durability in every respect.

 

 

All of the fairings are constructed from fibreglass, reinforced with Kevlar in the high stress areas and designed to take the rough and tumble associated with being ‘off the beaten path’. They come in most of the OEM bike colours and attach using the same 3 mounting points as the OEM fairing. Each one provides for the re-fitting of the OEM indicators or similar aftermarket items.

FAIRING MODELS

XS

Designed around the stock KLR 650 headlight, the XS was our first model. The XS design incorporates a static front fender that does not turn with the steering. This design provides a huge benefit in higher speed stability and eliminates the well known ‘fender waggle’ that the KLR is known to suffer from. Splash protection is provided by an ‘under fender’ ( included in the kit) which locates under the fairing in the normal high fender position.

The deep ‘tray’ in the front fender provides an ideal location for a spare tube pack and slots are provided to facilitate this.

Both Carbon Dash kits fit with this fairing.

A new Headlight protector made of tough Polycarbonate and designed to fit the XS Fairing, is now included in the kit. Attachment and removal are easy, using the four 'hook and loop' pads that are supplied with it.

The kit comes complete and finished in most of the OEM colours, with the screen attached, an under fender, all fitting hardware and full instructions.

XS TWIN

Following the widespread demand for better lighting on the KLR, we introduce the XS Twin. The twin carries through all of the features of the XS, but incorporates two Hella headlight modules. The low beam is a projector design as found on high end European cars and both lights use the new 65w H9 halogen bulb, delivering 20% more light than typical H4 types. We are satisfied that this setup provides the most light achievable within the constraints of the KLR’s electrical output and without the expense of HID. The lights work on a ‘one on, one off’ basis, so the unit only draws 65w at any one time.

The kit comes with the lights already fitted and a pre-wired electrical harness that includes a panel containing the two relays and lighting fuse and bolts easily into place onto the headlight frame behind the fairing. The panel also contains two additional spare fused terminals to provide power for the additional accessories that this fairing allows you to fit in the dash area. The electrical harness is ‘plug and play’ and does not require any modification to the stock wiring, so it is an easy installation for those with limited electrical knowledge.

For those wanting even more light, the low beam can easily be wired to stay on at all times but, without an increase in the stator power output, extended use of High beam in addition to the low, could deplete the battery’s power output. For the ‘ultimate’ lighting solution, each light can be converted to HID if required.

PHOENIX TWIN

The Phoenix Twin has been developed to satisfy the needs of owners who wish to retain the more common high fender arrangement found on the stock KLR. It retains all the benefits of the XS Twin except the higher speed stability. However, testing still indicates more stability and far better ‘air management’ than found with the stock unit.

Simpler construction, the absence of our under-fender and a much smaller package makes for a cheaper unit too! The fairing locates onto the same bolt holes as the stock unit and there is no need to remove the OEM front fender to fit it.

As with the XS Twin, the kit comes with the lights and screen already fitted and the same ‘plug and play’ wiring harness.
