Aimed directly at the ‘Adventure rider‘, the development of the production models in our range of fairings, has been based with function and practicality at the very heart of the design. We believe that a fairing should be designed to maximise every possible opportunity to improve the usability of the motorcycle and as such, our fairings each incorporate at least three of the following key functions that we believe should be found on an Adventure dual-sport motorcycle.
Variable wind protection
Instrument accommodation
Excellent Lighting
Stability
The first XS fairing was designed for the Kawasaki KLR650A and has been in production since early 2007. It was tested extensively for 4
months, both on and off road and since then, many units have been sold all over the world with reports indicating excellent durability in every respect.
All of our fairings are constructed from fibreglass, reinforced with Kevlar in the high stress areas and designed to take the rough and tumble associated with being ‘off the beaten path’. They come in most of the OEM bike colours and, in the case of the KLR, attach using the same mounting points as the OEM fairing. Each one provides for the re-fitting of the OEM indicators or similar aftermarket items.
Each Fairing kit comes complete with an ABS dashboard with ample room to accommodate a GPS and other instrumentation and switches. The dash fits to existing mounting points on the motorcycle frame and at the top of the fairing and conveniently, remains in place when the fairing is removed.
The fairings each use the same unique sliding windscreen that enables full adjustability over 7” and is available in Clear or Tinted finish. For ’off
road’, the screen is dropped to the ‘full down’ position and is completely clear of the riders field of vision. For faster ‘on road’ use, the screen can be adjusted to the riders ideal point of comfort for the conditions. Adjustment of the screen is straightforward using the two finger clamps at the base of the screen.
Further airflow benefits are gained by the design of the sliding screen. The screen is ‘set ‘ approximately 1” away from the main fairing which encourages accelerated air to pass behind the screen, almost eliminating the effect of buffeting around the riders helmet and enhancing the overall stability of the motorcycle at elevated speeds.
Each of our twin headlight models use two 90mm Hella Rally headlight modules with powerful 65w H9 bulbs. The low beam is of the projector type, giving far superior lighting immediately in front and to the sides of the road, with a very ‘clean’ horizontal cut off line. The high beam casts it’s light much further ahead than experienced with most motorcycle lighting. Each light is individually adjustable both horizontally and vertically so that they can be set up perfectly for your requirement and loading.
Your twin model fairings each come with a prewired electrical Harness that is ready mounted on the back of the dashboard . Each harness contains two relays and a lighting fuse and is largely ‘plug and play’ with very little alteration to the stock wiring. No electrical knowledge is required to install.
There are significant benefits to ordering an HID upgrade (available on one, or both lights).
1) Each HID bulb only draws 35w, which means that there is more spare electrical power left for other power consuming items, such as heated clothing etc.
2) Each bulb produces about twice as much light than the already powerful H9 Halogens.
3) The light from an HID bulb is much nearer that of daylight, creating even more definition on the road in front of you.
4) Whilst more expensive, HID bulbs will almost certainly last the life of the motorcycle, unless physically damaged.
( Note : You are reminded that the conversion of the lights to HID is not DOT approved for use on the Highway)
